New Music Report from Dan Close
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! We are excited to share some great new Christmas releases from all our favorite artists here on WRGN!
In “Emmanuel God With Us” Chris Tomlin brings together some lyrics from various traditional Christmas hymns along with a fresh chorus to create a worshipful anthem we know you’re going to love!
2021’s breakthrough trio CAIN brings us their first Christmas album and the title track, “Wonderful,” features Steven Curtis Chapman. We love it because it reminds us that when we don’t feel like we can manufacture happiness and cheer at this time of year, we can look to the wonder of our Savior and experience Emmanuel, God with us, in the midst of sorrow and find hope. “We Need Christmas,” the title track from Matthew West’s new album, also speaks to the way that the hope and traditions of Christmas are desperately needed in December 2021 in the midst of division, discouragement, and despair in the culture around us. Similarly, “We Need Emmanuel” by Brandon Heath laments the heaviness of the times and cries out for the comfort of God with us.
Crowder gives us his rendition of the Christmas classic, “O Holy Night,” and we enjoy his fresh yet very traditional rendering of one of the most famous Christmas songs ever written. Speaking of classics, you’ll love the smooth vocals and classic instrumentation from Michael Tait and the Newsboys with a heartwarming release of the quintessential classic, “The Christmas Song”–you’ll enjoy this one!
Enjoy a fun new song, “Jesus Christ is Born,” in classic Mac Powell style with a good dose of Southern gospel influence–let all of heaven and earth rejoice! Another fun release, “Christmas Lights,” comes from Love & The Outcome and invites you to trade your burdens for the joy of the season.
There are many more new favorites we’ll be sharing with you, including “I Still Believe in Christmas” by breakthrough artist Anne Wilson and a fun rendition of Feliz Navidad by Jordan Feliz, plus new releases from Tasha Layton, Stars Go Dim, Zach Williams, We the Kingdom. and more!
