From Us to You – June 2024

I have been involved in prison ministry for as long as I can remember. My dad is a pastor and also served as a prison chaplain; my brothers and I would often join him in going to our local prisons. Sometimes we would just be there with him while he led a Bible study, other times we would sing. It was such a part of our lives I don’t ever remember being scared or concerned when the thick doors were buzzed open or the gates slammed shut behind us.

I’m certain that’s not the case for those who are on the other side of the prison bars. The overwhelming fear and realization that it may be quite some time before they are on the outside must be very difficult. As believers, we are commanded to “Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them…” (Hebrews 13:3)

I still have the privilege of visiting behind the barbed wire to minister several times a year; and we also have the privilege of being there every day through the ministry of Christian radio! Every time I visit, the guys tell me how much they appreciate having Christian radio as a part of their daily lives. They speak of how much the teaching and music means to them. They also enjoy the personal connection of the voices on the other side of the radio. You make this happen!
