January 1, 2020
They say that hindsight is 20/20, and yet as we enter the year 2020, we are looking forward to something we have not yet seen. It reminds me of Hebrews 11:1, which says that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Some of us are hoping that 2020 will be a better year, and others may find themselves quite content with how 2019 went, and would be completely satisfied if 2020 continued in the same way. Our perspective, just like hindsight, changes over time.
Some will look back over 2019 and see opportunities missed, dreams unfulfilled, or relationships damaged. They will resolve to do better in 2020, and yet could find themselves looking back in hindsight over 2020 and regretting many of the same things. So, how do we change? How do we do better next year? The Bible tells us in James 4:14 “…yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring.” And while this may make it seem like things are hopeless, the next verse reminds us where our hope should be placed! James goes on to say “Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.'” In fact, the first part of James 4 is a great perspective on the new year–how we should live, how we should walk, and what will happen when we do! So much hope!
This is the hope that we offer daily here on WRGN. We hear from our listeners who appreciate that hope. In fact, we received a call recently from a woman who expressed her thankfulness to God for the messages offered on WRGN after her husband passed away. She told us how the station helped her through that difficult time, and continues to help her today!
Thank you for your help in offering that hope to all of NEPA. We are grateful for each of you who gave throughout the year to make this ministry happen. To those of you who made faith promises for the year 2020, thank you for using what God will provide for you in the coming year to further the spreading of the good news… no, the best news ever!
Looking forward with 20/20 vision,
