BACKGROUND
I grew up in Hackettstown, NJ, the home of M&M Mars. Yes, at times, you could smell the chocolate! I earned my bachelor’s degree in marketing and management at Centenary University, which is also in Hackettstown. As part of that degree program, I had a 6-month internship in New York City, which ended up becoming my first job. I worked in NYC for ten years before marrying my husband, Don, in 2007 and moving to a farmhouse in Stillwater, PA. Since then, we have moved to a cozy house in the woods, up in the mountains near Ricketts Glen State Park. In 2016, I began my master’s degree program in Bible at Clarks Summit University and graduated in 2018. I then started my Master of Divinity degree at Baptist Bible Seminary and graduated in 2020. Along the way, I began working at CSU and ended my time there as the Vice President for Enrollment when the University closed in July 2024. While attending CSU/BBS, I volunteered for four years as the Librarian at the Good News Library here at WRGN. As a volunteer, I also helped in many capacities during Share-A-Thon and at events like the Ride for Radio, Columbus Day/President’s Day Skates, More-Than-A- Yard Sale, and my favorite – The Scott and Arthur Christmas Show! I loved my time as a volunteer and am thrilled to be part of the WRGN staff now!
SALVATION
I was saved as a child in our church, the Vienna UMC. However, when I started attending CSU in 2016, I learned even more about what it means to be a child of God, and I had a strong desire to walk in his ways and recommit my life to him at that time. I got baptized in 2018 at our current church home, Fellowship Church in Dallas, PA. We love our church family and have developed very meaningful, sweet relationships with many people there. They supported me in so many ways during my cancer journey in 2023, and I am so thankful for their prayers, help, and encouragement.
FAVORITE SCRIPTURE VERSE
I have TWO favorite verses!
The first one is Romans 8:38-39 which says, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” It reminds me so often that no matter what happens, no matter how dark things may seem, no matter how I feel, there is absolutely nothing that could separate me from the love of my Father.
The second verse is 2 Timothy 1:12b, which says, “I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.” This reminds me that my salvation is secure. Just like there is nothing I can do to earn it, there is also nothing I need to do to keep it. God is the keeper of my eternal inheritance. What a comfort that is!
HOBBIES
My primary hobby is reading…LOTS of reading. I read both fiction and non-fiction, depending on my mood. Some of my favorite fiction books are Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, and This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti. I also love Jill Eileen Smith’s biblical fiction, but I couldn’t pick a favorite!
Some of my favorite non-fiction books are Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges, The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burrows, The Bruised Reed by Richard Sibbes, Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, The Pundit’s Folly by Sinclair Ferguson, Every Moment Holy by Douglas Kaine McKelvey and The Valley of Vision edited by Arthur Bennett.
DREAM VACATION
Our dream vacation is a trip to Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. It is one of the world’s northernmost inhabited regions and is home to many polar bears, reindeer, and arctic foxes. Being so far north, they experience long stretches of time with no sun and months on end when the sun never sets. I don’t know that we will ever make it there, but we hope so!
